A new surprise coming to the WordPress world after the most buzzed new feature about Post Format UI will be removed! This is shocking for some users, but some other user feels like nothing happened because they don’t do formatting post. You can read two posts about WordPress killing the post formats on WPMU.org or WPTavern.
Even though it is removed, but it may be will be appear like the previous post formats selection radio but with image addition after the check list like what appear on the left.
My personal view, this is a very good move, because post format is not really what people need to blog. Post format will make a new WordPress user scared, what makes my friends prefer to use blogger.com over WordPress is because WordPress looks messy, it’s too complicated, to many options. So there is no need to make it more confusing.
So I can not agree more to the decision made by Mark Jaquith about this;
This is a hard decision. I’ve been talking to a lot of WordPress core developers and contributors, and the overwhelming consensus is that Post Formats UI is not ready for WordPress core, and that it would be a mistake to ship it as it currently exists. We’re going to pull it out, and let it continue development as a plugin, much like MP6. — Mark Jaquith
Post Format Solution
Putting post format into a plugin is a good solution about this problem, to accommodate users that have been missing this feature so much. They will still get what they want from this post formats UI.
Integrating post formats UI into JetPack plugin could also become a good option, because it will help to push user to try this new, to increase the adoption so that one day, when the number of post formats adoption highly increasing, the core WordPress developer can bring post formats back home to core.
Push Series inside WordPress Core
Rather than adding post formats into core, I think that post series by Justin Tadlock is what most user will be thankful to have it by default on the next WordPress release. Because this plugins help blogger to promote their content and help him to be more organized.
Adding Schema Creator
There is one more plugin that I love to have to help my post looks crispy on search engines. It is schema Creator made by Raven Tools that will give you option to tell search engines what kind of post you write on your page. It can be used for any blog/site about product review because it will add schema.org markup on your post. You can have stars after your name on Google SERP that add more trust to user.
This plugin is another post formats version for any serious blogger using their blog to make money by making review. It also support a wide range of markup type such as person, product, event, organization, movie, book and even recipe.
